My necks on the line...

1 Chelsea 88
2 Manchester United 86
3 Arsenal 84

The guys I share the season ticket with, bless this 'roy of the rovers' prediction...

1 Arsenal 84
2 Chelsea 83
3 Manchester United 82

But hey, I hope so too.

Also...

1 Chelsea 85
2 Arsenal 84
3 Manchester United 83

All gooners but can not agree on where we will finish!

Also a possibility: 84pt three way split for the title on goal difference, how about that?

Top Banana

Well I've made my predictions so I'm keeping them on record and I'm going to try not to analyse again until the end of the season, I said TRY.

For Chelsea…
Who knows, maybe Villa or City could nick a point at the Bridge. I can’t see them getting all 9pts away from home against Everton, Liverpool and Man Utd?! Finally lets hope our North London rivals do us a favor and nick a point from them at White Hart Line. The others Bolton, Stoke, West Ham, Wigan ‘should’ be straight forward home wins. Blackburn, Portsmouth, Wolves ‘should’ be relatively easy away ties.

For Man U…
I just have a feeling they will beat Chelsea so I’m pinning my hopes again (I know this is calling in a lot of favors from our N.London rivals) but Spurs grabbing a point and perhaps our other cockney mates West Ham or them Liverpool scousers getting a something. I’ll give them Stoke & Fulham 'straight forward' home wins and Blackburn, Bolton, Sunderland & Wolves as easy away days. However surely Villa, Everton & Man City away ‘should’ all be difficult!

Hopefully I have identified a few potential banana skins!

First one to blink loses!

Been driving myself mad studying the run-in and drawn a few conclusions.

I think 90pts is the benchmark to win the league, as it’s panned out like this in previous seasons…

2008/09

1 Manchester United 90
2 Liverpool 86
3 Chelsea 83
4 Arsenal 72

2007/08

1 Manchester United 87
2 Chelsea 85
3 Arsenal 83
4 Liverpool 76

2006/07

1 Manchester United 89
2 Chelsea 83
3 Liverpool 68
4 Arsenal 68

Chelsea won in 2005/06 & 2004/05 with a whopping 91 & 95 pts, last time we got 90pts was the invincible season (2003/04) 26-12-0. Hmmmm.

So even if we win all our final 13games we will have 88pts, not enough. I think realistically speaking I see no reason why we shouldn’t win ALL our home games, starting with Liverpool tomorrow (others Burnley, Fulham, Man City, Sunderland, West Ham, Wolves) then I think we will draw a couple of away games, possibly Birmingham and dare I say it Spurs. Again realistically speaking I see no reason why any of the others: Blackburn, Hull, Stoke, Wigan should cause us problems.

So my prediction for us, 84pts and as long as we get that as a minimum we have done ourselves justice, but it’s a tall order! This will be two wins short of the season target, we have lost six games already and looking at those last six seasons the winners have only ever lost at the most FIVE. So it’s all very marginal for us, but just ever so slightly lacking. Devils advocate but perhaps avoiding one loss or turning a couple of draws in to wins may have clinched it, we’ll see at the end and reflect back.

So for the magical 90pts, Man U will need 11wins 1draw and can even afford to lose a game. Chelsea could also afford a loss and TWO draws as long as they pick up 10wins, so neither scenario unrealistic.

We’re doomed.

Man u have been through their dodgy patch, they have hit a bit of form now and Rooney is on fire.

Chelsea do look the most solid, but before us they drew 1-1 with Hull and got a near on last minute winner Vs Burnley (they were far from convincing in either game) they are due a blip more than anyone, starting with their game tomorrow Vs Everton would be nice.

I guess from now until the end of the season, first one to blink loses!

This will take no less than EVERYONE taking maximum points from EVERY game and let’s see who loses first?

If that’s us tomorrow, I give up!

Lee Dixon's tactical view

Spot on geeze, couldn't agree more, except the very last paragraph of course ;-) Read the BBC report!

Ever the optimist

...but even I am slightly depressed about Arsenals results of late. So we drew against Villa followed by defeats to Man Utd and Chelsea.

What makes it worse is that tactically they have us sussed! Blatantly turning us over but calling it out it exactly how it’s going to play out before hand. Do we alter our tactics so they come unstuck, as if. We are as arrogant as ever and play it out exactly as we are, OK we play the best football, everyone agrees, but we’re not winning anything!

Arsenal have now played the top two twice this season and lost all four matches, scoring only TWO and letting in TEN!

We have x13 games left and we have seen that anyone can drop points at any time. We clawed back an 11pt gap before xmas so we have proved we can do it! Chelsea and United both have the rest of the top seven to face before the end of the season - including each other – I guess on paper at least, we have the easier run-in.

Here we go, can we claw back a 7pt gap and take it to the wire.

My theory is that winning games against the top four doesn’t guarantee you the title. However sustaining good unbeaten consistent runs does. So if we can patch together at least a 10game unbeaten run, lets see where that leaves us?
